What is the A-Team?
The A-Team consistents of students starting from middle school to high school, all the way through college, learning to build and help communities and familes. For 25 years the A-Team has been going strong, teaching students to become leaders in their communities and inspiring more people to help out too. The A team now has an Alumni group of people who are now in their professional careers. People like Mo Godin, and Joe Ali, who now help regularly as A team alumni on our build sites, giving their professional expertise, running special events and more. Mo started in the ninth grade in Hastings High, helped lead the High School Advisory board, graduated Northeastern and helps regularly in all aspects of our vital work. Joe Ali, a graduate of Iona Prep, started in high school, volunteered in College and has gotten his firm out, as well as helps chair our golf tournament every year. Helen Curry started in the 8th grade and led her Horace Greeley Club to build many times on our Passive Homes, and now is in Architecture school.
"One of the core principles of the Fuller Center for Housing of NYC is commitment. We’re not volunteering for just a day — we build lasting relationships with the communities we serve. The A Team is an extension of that principle. The A Team is made up of high school and college students + alumni that have extensive experience with the Fuller Center’s work. They show up consistently, lead groups in volunteering and are ambassadors to the neighborhoods we work with."
