Disaster Assistance Recovery Team
Description:
The Fuller Center's D.A.R.T. (Disaster Assistance Response Team) program mobilizes a robust volunteer brigade in response to disasters like hurricanes Ida and Sandy. We work day and night to rebuild after floods and act quickly in response to devastating comunity events like house fires. We help to meet basic human needs like food, temporary shelter, and clothing.
Disaster Recovery Achievements:
1998 - Led Relief for Fountain Place Fire Victims
2001 - Armory Distribution Center was Created September 16th for Supplies to be Brought to Ground Zero
2007 - Created Disaster Office on Mamaroneck Avenue and Helped Serve the Community by Gutting and Rehabbing 200 Homes and Being a Center for Information From the Floods of 2007
2009 - Hurricane Irene Relief and Rehab, Gave Over 9 Million Dollars of Relief Gutting and Mucking and Repairing Homes
2012 - Hurricane Sandy Relief Which Included Bringing Over 9,000 Volunteers and Created Distribution Centers Throughout Breezy Pt and Rockaways
2018 - Assisted with Millwood Tornado Damages Pumping Out Water and Bringing Genterators to 6 Homes
2020 - D.A.R.T.
• Rehabbed Homes Impacted by the Recent Storms,
•Rehabing Homes affected by Tornados
•Distrubuted 8,000 Bags of Food and 400 Cakes,
•Pandemic Relief
•3,500 Masks handed out,
•31,000 Diapers Handed Out During Pandemic,
•Assisted in the Relocation of Familes Affected by Gas Leaks,
•Assisted in Helping 30 Families Displaced in Portchester While Also Creating a Disaster Center Where a Former Dress Barn Used to be,
•Donated $2,000 Worth of Beds and $15,000 Worth of Food and Clothing.
2021 - Febuary 2021 Helped Out 150 Families, 24 Mount Vernon Ave Assisted With Displaced Families
2022 - Began assisting storm Eliot families in Rockaways in december
2023 - Fire Victims Assisted Bronx River Road, Yonkers Fire, and Union Ave Fire Victims all Assisted. Assisted flood homes, finishing hurricane Sandy homes, finishin storm Eliot projects and hurricane Ida project and much much more...
